Charles co-founded The American Interest in 2005 with Francis Fukuyama. Charles co-founded the think tank Global Financial Integrity (2006) and chaired its advisory board, co-founded the Financial Accountability and Corporate Transparency Coalition (2009), is Executive Producer of We’re Not Broke (premiered at Sundance in 2012), and was vice-chair of the Freedom House board of trustees. He co-founded and was Executive Director of the Kleptocracy Initiative at Hudson Institute (2014-2018).
Damir's interests include American foreign policy, interventionism, human rights, as well as the history and politics of Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. Originally born in Croatia, he is also working on issues surrounding the Western Balkans as a Senior Nonresident Fellow at the Atlantic Council.
