What a thought: Instead of Chairman Mao, a Cardinal Mao.

That was not to be,, but perhaps one day we will be witness to a Chinese Constantine…

In their attempts to crack down on Christianity, the ChiComs may be heartened by recent events in Georgia.

  • Mao was a psychopath, and hopefully he’d never lay claim to Christianity.

The Chinese government are fools. When they use the power of the state to suppress Christianity, they endow it with an exotic mystique, which makes it more attractive to those who don’t wish to conform to the dominant form of groupthink. The best way to discredit Christianity is to let it compete in a free marketplace of ideas. As is the case in the United States, Christians should be free to practice and promote their beliefs and others should be free to criticize and mock their beliefs. American churches are losing adherents, who have decided of their own accord to discard the myths of their forebears.

More precisely, they’re bleeding off the people who never believed in the first place.
