Our own Walter Russell Mead recently discussed the theological underpinnings of American foreign policy at an event sponsored by the Davenant Trust and Providence magazine. In his lecture, Walter explores how deep-rooted theological traditions—and in particular, dueling conceptions of eschatology—have shaped American foreign policy from the time of the Founders to the present day.

    Interesting talk.

    The context of his talk might have been a bit more clear if the article had briefly explained what the Davanent Trust and Providence magazine are as it would have clarified who the audience were.

    Long, but really worth watching, and not just for evangelical protestants.

    The compare/contrast of “end of history assumptions” between christian pre-millennials, post-millennials, marxists, secular progressives and moslems is really fascinating.
