Lawmakers Block Postal Service Recovery

It seems to me that the easiest way for the USPS to save a lot of money with no meaningful reduction in service is for each local office to divide its service area in half and deliver the mail to one half on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and to the other half, with the same people and trucks, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. What difference does it make to a residential customer if he gets mail every day or every other day? (I know people don’t work six days, but they have that problem now.) This would be quick, painless (except to the redundant employees) and highly effective.

All monopolies, including the Government Monopoly suffer from the same problem, the lack of feedback from competition that causes capitalism to continuously improve its Quality, Service, and Price.
