    Mr. Mead,

    Re: The Loon

    This childish name-calling demeans you and your argument.

    It might seem ‘cool’ to the kiddies in your class but you’re bloging here for the real world.

    Perhaps you want to reconsider that approach and adapt a more mature one. I’m just saying.

    Kenny, you do realize we’re talking about someone whose actual first name is “Sword of Islam”?

  • SgtDad

    “Seif al-Islam al-Qaddafi”

    Does this not translate as “Qaddafi’s Sword of Submission?” Why do we conceal these truths by not translating Arabic titles, etc.?

    Seif al-Islam = Sword of Submission;
    Fatah = Conquest;
    etc.

    • Walter Russell Mead

      @ Sgt.Dad
      Not sure what the point would be. Logically, wouldn’t that mean translating the name “Peter” as rock every time it showed up? And just because your parents named you something, that doesn’t mean you are that thing.

      BTW a Mead ancestor had 11 children back in the day. The oldest was a daughter and they named her Patience. The 11th child was a daughter and they named her Experience. Not sure this had much to do with the character of each child.
