There are two problematic points that I would like to point out. First, the claim that the “Palestinians are having to pay” for the persecution of Jews is not accurate. The Jews have had a continual presence since ancient times and Zionist settlement resulted from Jews purchasing Arab lands. Also, the idea that there is a Palestinian people is quite a new concept probably since after the 1967 war. Second, you don’t mention the Arab occupation of Jerusalem since the time of the first Muslim caliphs. Before that most of the M.E. was Christian.

” It is by no means clear that Chinese nationalism will not, for example, lead to conflicts with Indian, Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean nationalism in the new century.”

    You forgot Russia.
