The American Interest is looking for a staff writer to work out of its Washington, D.C. office. This is an entry-level position, ideal for a recent college graduate with a strong liberal arts background looking to break into journalism and/or policy analysis. Foreign language skills and comfort with statistics are a plus.
Writing: Contribute short articles to the Via Meadia feed; participate and pitch article ideas in daily editorial calls; work closely with our small, motivated staff and our editor-at-large, Walter Russell Mead, to offer sharp and timely commentary on the events of the day.
Research: Develop expertise in two or three policy areas; perform thorough research and fact-checking on a daily basis. We are looking for a writer to focus primarily on domestic policy and politics.
