Unemployment Surges in Battleground States

US Department of Labor figures on state unemployment brought more gloomy news to the White House.  Among the ten states where unemployment rose significantly in July were the key battleground states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and New Hampshire.  The employment picture was significantly improved in only two battleground states: Colorado and New Mexico.

    Barring a borderline miracle, he’s finished. And he richly deserves to be.

    I’m not sure what’s more sad, the fact that he honestly believed he was up for this job, or the fact that America ever did.

    Not sure why you say the employment situation improved in Colorado. From June to July, on a seasonally-adjusted basis, the total labor force shrank by 7600, and the number of employed declined by 5300.
