Back in the USA

I’m not quite sure what time it is on my body clock; I woke up at 6 AM Moscow time, spent some time at Heathrow three time zones behind Moscow, and returned to glamorous Queens jetport JFK.

I’ve had a feeling of disasters dodged on this trip; as readers know, my flight was one of the first out of Yaroslavl after the recent crash there. Images from 9/11 have been lurking on the media; for me the day is still too fresh and painful to be endlessly recycled on TV.  And back in New York traffic was backed up for miles on the expressway leading into the airport as police set up checkpoints thanks to the “credible” warning that Al Qaeda wants to give us an anniversary present.  The stock market crashed again; there is gloom from Vladivostok to Vancouver, from Hammerfast to Ushuaia.

Be all that as it may, I’m home and that always feels good.

Welcome home! We’re grateful to have you safely home in glorious Queens. Or should I say glamorous Queens?

May you always vaya con Dios. I suspect you already do, and Dios is smiling.
