Senator Chris Coons (D-Delaware) is a member of the Foreign Relations committee and the Appropriations subcommittee that funds the State Department’s operations and foreign assistance. He chaired the Foreign Relations subcommittee on Africa from 2010 to 2014, co-authoring multiple bills on U.S.-Africa policy that became law, including the reauthorization of the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act, the Electrify Africa Act, the Global Food Security Act, and the END Wildlife Trafficking Act.
