    One reason “most Americans don’t like the idea” is that they are correctly imagining themselves being charged very large fees to use whatever infrastructure the concessionaires get wealthy from building or operating. No other answer is even possible in these scenarios and no capital would be invested from private hands into these projects without strong assurances of that outcome.

      China built an entire highway system using the BOT model.

      We’d be stupid not to consider this model.

      Also, charge too high a fee and people don’t use your service at all.

        Yeah, people will just “opt” to not use water, sewer, electrical service, communications, roads and bridges. They’ll just take their business elsewhere, I’m sure.
