Hail Shale
Next Year Looking Even Better For US Energy

The shale boom has remade the American energy landscape, and it isn’t slowing down. The chart above, using data from the Energy Information Administration’s most recent Short-Term Energy Outlook, shows how much oil and gas production has risen since January 2012, and even more encouragingly, how much it is expected to continue to grow next year.

The U.S. is now the world’s largest producer of oil and gas, and in addition to the economic benefits we’re enjoying as a result, America is also less reliant on foreign sources of energy. That gives us more strategic options abroad, and even provides a counter to Russia’s energy weapon. All hail shale!
